Here in the quiet and the dark of this pew
I sit on the hard, hard wood.
My feet are cold, and the air is chill.
And the place is a little too grand.
But I come because
there’s a window in front.
A window that’s round
and filled with the most beautiful light
that I think it must come
from our Mother herself.
Just a small beam of her love
filtered through the glass
in those beautiful shapes
and the colors that play.
And I sit here and feel
God’s love reaching for me
Through some pieces of colored glass.
And I’m thankful to the one
who put her love in that glass
and shaped it and colored it and hung it there.
To be of some help
to children along the way.
Those who need a little help
in reaching.
